Midnight Traffic

I can see them now, I can see the lights
Flashing neon disasters, traffic lights, headlights blurring as I go faster
Cruising the dark city streets, I’m my own cop on my own beat
Why does the traffic stave off the feeling of my own crushing defeat?

The music flows as the city goes
Blurring lights, such beautiful sights
The rain beats down adding to the sound
It makes me free, such a sight to see
Midnight traffic does something to me

Lost in the flow, who cares where I go?
Just me and the song, cruising all night long
Whenever I’m down, lost without the sound
I join the midnight traffic and suddenly I’m found.

The music flows as the city goes
Blurring lights, such beautiful sights
The rain beats down adding to the sound
Feeling down alone, lost and on my own
I join the midnight traffic and it brings me home
